Teaching distance can be fun for both you and the dog!

It doesn't matter if you want to do bonus work or if you want to simply be able to send your dog to obstacles, teaching distance can be fun and exciting and it all starts with one small step at a time.

Distance was something I had to fight for tooth and nail with my first agility dog Lola. She was sure the only way to play agility was with me right next to her. It took me years of practice, playing with rewards, taking my time, building her confidence and earning her trust one step at a time.

Fast forward to current time and my border collie Jinx who thinks that distance is fun. After years of having a partner who hated the whole idea of distance, I have to say, it is pretty awesome to watch my teammate flow over the ground in front of me from 30+ feet away.

How does this work?

In this first time offered hybrid class not only will you get access to all of the awesome information, graphics and videos in my popular "Teaching Distance One Step at a Time" online class, but we will also spend an hour each week working in person at my personal field working on the topics and exercises of the week!

Class is limited to 6 teams so don't wait!!! Join us!!! We will be working on regular NADAC equipment, but I do have the ability also add other obstacles as well such as a teeter, tire jump, triple jump and more.

Wanna see what we will be up to?? Check out some of the exercises and topics below :)

All exercises come with versions that can be done by any team.

It doesn't matter how much room you have to work in, what obstacles you have or what level your dog works at. This course has something for everyone.

We help you and your dog build confidence with every exercise.

Every exercise starts close and slowly back chains distance on reptation at a time. You work at the dog's pace and figure out ways to encourage them without pushing too fast too soon.

Break down distance in a way you never have before.

MANY images and videos will help you to "see" pressure like never before. Learn about positioning and where to apply pressure to get your dog out and away from you.

Pick the plan that best works for you!

"One of my all time favorite agility memories was when my Lola first decided that she was brave enough to do an Open Chances course with me behind the distance line. We had worked so hard for that moment. I screamed and cheered for her like we had just earned a NATCH. She ran into my arms and the photographer just happened to capture the moment. I will treasure it forever"
